Certificate in Integrative Counselling Skills and Theory

Unit 1 Counselling from a Christian perspective

When speaking of nature, I imagine everything that is within and everything that fills, composes and emanates from a certain being or creature. When speaking of character, I immediately associate it with some features of the human personality. God is all in all and Indescribable. I am filled with awe and fear and at the same time joy and excitement when it comes to talking and describing God.

As the Moon reflects the Sun, in the same way our perception of someone who we are not able to see are formed based on some reflections and from experiences we get with people around us. We hear or watch examples of parents or relatives, of friends or church members, we read books and discern different teachings and doctrines talking about God. We read the Bible where He is described as our Heavenly Father, Almighty God, Lord God, King of Israel, King Eternal, I am who I am. When we first hear the name of someone, it usually takes us a moment or two, or more to have a grasp of it and remember it. Eternal, Holy, Incomprehensible, Light, Spirit, Trinity, Unchangeable, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Wisdom. Only faith could give somebody a deeper understanding and deeper knowledge of our Creator who revealed Himself in a human personality and came to live a perfect life as Jesus. (written 2014)
